Church of Santo Amaro
João Anes do Couto Cardoso founded the original chapel dedicated to Santo Amaro, which was later expanded by his son Francisco do Couto Cardoso, founder of the entailment of Paul do Mar. The parish was established in the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries. In 1974, the parish church was demolished, and the current church was built in its place, which is said to be a replica of an existing church in California, United States.
Chimney of the Cannery
Being the land of fishermen, Paul do Mar had a canning factory at Sítio da Lagoa, built in 1912 and inaugurated on April 17, 1913. Its owners were Manuel Gonçalves, Carlos Alberto Ferreira, António Rodrigues Brás (already the owner of a mill and lime kiln in the village of Calheta) and "Tomaso Moro & Figli", an important Italian canning house. In the factory, tuna was cooked in 12 boilers, which was then preserved in olive oil. The chimney, which is incorporated in a residential block, is all that remains today of this factory.
Statue of “Homem do Mar”
On August 21, 2004, the Sítio do Porto, west of the pier, placed on public display the statue of the "Man of the Sea", by António, Vânia and Nuno Mendanha. Standing about 3 metres high, the statue was made in honour of the fishermen of the parish, and it has become a landmark image of Paul do Mar.
