The Municipality of Calheta is equipped with windfarms, providing about 10% of the total energy necessary on the Island. In addition to these latest wind power projects, the municipality of Calheta also has the hydroelectric power station of Rabaçal.

The private and public investment within the Municipality, allows for a cleaner more sustainable production of energy and lowers carbon emissions. Thus, the wind production centres have proven, in conjunction with the water systems, an excellent choice that contribute significantly to the total electricity production in RAM.
